general insanity and complaint.... ramblings of a disheartened fool
It's harder than I thought, breaking out of the corporate mold and into the world at large, especially with so many "photographers" doing the same thing. It's been disheartening to say the least, and while I know.. that with perseverance, I will prevail, I was really hoping someone would take a chance on me.
One of the other ladies who is also a fabulous photographer posted a month or so back that some people think it takes only the purchase of the photoshop software and an expensive camera to "break out of the shell" and become a photographer. Some even think that posing and traditional portraits are a waste of time. Others honestly believe that snapshots, enhanced and fixed extensively are great works of photographic genius. Until this trend stops, and people wise up to the insanity of "facebook" generation photographers, those with experience might need to take baby steps.
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone and wish them all luck... Just basically feeling really..... out of it. Warmer weather is here, which means I'll be able to get out more and advertise that it's ME behind Intimate Xpressions. Experience and talent go hand in hand.
Now, for those of you who actually read this.. check out Cohen Sloane Photography on Facebook. She's out of Dawson and one of the few I've had the pleasure of knowing ALL of my life... God gifted her with a beautiful talent!

About the photographer
Who am I? Some may question, others will know. My name is Sherrie, and yes, I'm one of the friendly faces you seen gracing the Picture Me! studios in the Hopkins, Christian, and Daviess county areas for the past few years. This is not a hobby for me, but a career choice that I have chosen to follow. I do have professional training in a studio situation, and while, at the moment, I don't have a studio. I hope to very soon.
As a person, I wear many hats. Photographer is just one of them. I'm also a mother, a girl scout leader, and a college student. Doing this has allowed me to pursue the dreams of my life, while not loosing anytime with my family!
Daily struggle is part of everyone's life. It's how we get through it that makes us who we are. I'm hoping that this endeavor will allow for all of you to see that's while it's easier to "work for the man" it's so much more rewarding to be able to work for yourself.

New Beginnings.... a start
It's time. For what you ask? It's time to shed the corporate bounds and working 50 hours a week for the man, and start working for me and my family. It's time to stop playing in the wading pool with the ducklings and start soaring with the eagles.
Have you ever been too scared to fly? Too scared to step out on your own and make your own way? That's been me for the past month. I've been wavering on making a decision that will allow for me to be the mother I've always wanted to be while continuing to pursue a dream that I love.
Let's see where this will take me... and pray that it is as far as I want to go. See you later Corporate America....
